- The archives of the Institute are focused on the study of the Italian Catholic Action and the Catholic movement. Therefore, they are accessible only to scholars who need to conduct scientific research in this field.
- Qualified scholars and researchers are admitted without restrictions.
- Access to the archives is also permitted to university students provided with a letter of presentation from either the teacher under whom they are researching or any qualified scholar in the field.
- Any request for admission to the archives must be addressed to the director of the Institute (e-mail: archivio@isacem.it). The request should include, in addition to the personal details and qualification, the research subject and the materials to be accessed.
- Access to the archives must be permitted and agreed in advance.
- Upon entering the study room, users must sign the register and fill in a form with the required information. Any request to access materials must be done filling in the proper forms.
- Users are not allowed to bring bags in the study room. They must be deposited in the proper cabinets.
- Printed and archival materials cannot be lent or removed from the study room. Photocopying files or considerable parts of the materials is not allowed; for any exceptions, the user may submit a written request to the director.
- Documents that are dated after 1969 or not catalogued or under high risk of deterioration are excluded from access.
- It is at the discretion of the director to grant access to documents related to living persons.
- Users must submit their requests for consultation according to the following times: 1st take at 9 am, 2nd take at 10.30 am, 3rd take at 12 am, 4th take at 3 pm, 5th take at 4 pm. Users may take up to three pieces (folder, volume, year’s issue) per take. At the end of the day users can leave the materials in storage for later reference, up to a maximum of seven days.
- Photocopying is permitted in accordance with legislation and within the limits of staff time. Photocopying is absolutely not permitted when it may damage the documents or their bindings.
- Users are allowed to take pictures of the documents using their own digital cameras.
- Users can access the Institute from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays; from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5 pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
- Users agree to deliver to the Institute copies of their works in which materials of the Institute have been cited and/or used.
- In case of non-compliance with these rules or misbehavior (damage to or theft of documents), the director reserves the right to exclude users from the study room.
